Cymmerodd arno
agwedd gwas,
A natur marwol ddyn,
A melldith drom
ein beiau cas
A ddygodd Ef ei hun.
Yr Hollgyfoethog ddaeth yn dlawd,
Fel cyfoethogid ni;
Daeth Brenin nefoedd i ni'n frawd,
Wel dyma ryfedd fri!
Tywalltai'i werthfawrocaf waed,
I olchi ffwrdd ein bai;
Ac yn ei gleisiau mae iachâd,
I glwyfau euog rai.
Estynai'i ddwylaw pur ar led,
I dderbyn angeu loes;
A llyncodd angeu
pawb a gred,
Yn angeu mawr ei groes.

Tonau [MC 8686]: |
He took upon himself
the aspect of a servant,
And the nature of mortal man,
And the heavy curse
of our detestable faults
He himself bore.
The all-wealthy became poor,
That we might be made rich;
The King of heaven became a brother to us,
See, here is a wonderful renown!
He would pour out his most precious blood,
To wash away our fault;
And in his wounds there is healing,
For the wounds of guilty ones.
He would stretch his pure hands wide,
To receive the throes of death;
An he swallowed the death
of all who believe,
In the great death of his cross.
